Travis County's 7th Annual History Day was today and it was celebrating 100 years of Extension Services in Travis County! The event was held at the Commissioner's Court and was attended by current Extension Agents, former Extension Agents, 4-H families and volunteers, Director of Texas Agrilife Extension Doug Steele, County Judge Sam Biscoe, Master Gardeners, the Travis County History Committee, and other members of the community. Mr. Steele and Mr. Biscoe both gave inspiring speeches and 4-H members provided the entertainment including an excellent rendition of "What a Wonderful World" performed by Makalah Adams of Bethany 4-H. The event was a huge success and I think the photos speak for themselves:

This was a busy day for 4-H in Travis County as we not only were involved in the NAMI Walk in the morning but I also helped out at the Green Apple Day of Service at the Community Garden at Brooke Elementary. School staff, after school workers, parents, and children all lent a helping hand to make this event a huge success! We got a lot accomplished, building and filling raised beds for the school gardens. Here are some photos from this event:

September 27, 2014 - NAMI Walk
The NAMI Walk is an annual event held in Austin to raise awareness of mental health issues and this year's event took place on a lovely fall day at the Long Center across from Auditorium Shores. 4-H Volunteers lent a hand at the event by providing a dog watering station and giving out treats to the dogs who came by. It was another great year thanks to our staff, volunteers, 4-H members, and the others who helped out or attended the NAMI Walk! I was there to document our efforts with a Canon PowerShot G12 camera. Here are the highlights:
