Today was the School Garden Leadership Training conducted by the Sustainable Food Center (SFC) and held at Blackshear Elementary.  This was an excellent training where we learned a lot of useful information about starting community gardens.  Donna Hoffman who is a school garden mentor at Blackshear Elementary led us on a tour of the garden where we had the opportunity to pick and eat our own greens.  We also met the Compost Peddlers, who are "a bike-powered community composting program that collects organic waste from Austin homes and businesses and cycles it to nearby gardens to help grow more food."  Thanks for your hard work, Compost Peddlers, Sustainable Food Center, and Donna Hoffman, and thanks to East Side Pies for providing delicious free pizza to those who helped out in the garden!
