September 24, 2016

This year with the departure of Cory Hundl off to greener pastures in her new job in District 9, I stepped up and took charge of the 4-H volunteer efforts at the annual NAMI Walk, which took place on September 24th.  For those of you that don't know, NAMI Walk is a charity event designed to raise awareness of the serious issue of mental illness.  Participants walk from the Long Center to the Texas State Capitol and around.  This year, Travis County 4-H was stationed at the booth along 11th Street just south of the Capitol, and as per usual, we were filling up the water dishes for the dogs.  We also passed out water bottles to those participants who were thirsty.  Overall, it was a successful event in a family-friendly environment.  I'd like to thank the participants from North Austin 4-H and Oak Hill 4-H and also I'd like to thank the folks at the NAMI Walk for another great year!
