Today was Ag Science Day 2014 held this year at the Travis County Expo Center.  It was an exciting opportunity for the kids to learn all about agriculture and farm animals.  We had a large group of children from various schools in Travis County in attendance along with a wide variety of presenters and volunteers.   Thanks to everyone who made this day such a success!  Here are some highlights from the Southwest Dairy Council presentation and the livestock section where the participants learned about steers, chicks, and goats.

Today was the first day for the Brooke 4-H After School Club.  We will be learning photography and gardening this year.  We will meet every Tuesday after school until 4:30.  Mr. Alanis will be helping with the gardening aspect.  Heather with the Americorps program will also be helping out.  They will be hosting a work day in the school garden this Saturday, September 27th from 9-3 for those who are able to attend.

I took a group photo of the 4-H club and Ryan helped by taking pictures in the garden.  Let's work together to make it a great year at Brooke Elementary!

This was our first 4-H meeting for the 2014-2015 4-H year at Bethany 4-H.  Last time we elected Makalah as President of the 4-H Club and Zorey as Secretary.  Today, the club elected Tenia as Vice President, Yahaira as Treasurer, and Caleb as Second Vice President.  Next month, the club will elect a Parliamentarian.  The club also voted to help clean up Givens Park for 4-H One Day at the October meeting.  Congratulations to all our new officers and let's make it another great year with Bethany 4-H!
