The Travis County 4-H CAPITAL 2015 Urban Animal Science Banquet was held yesterday at TA Brown Elementary.  It was a chance to reflect upon the accomplishments of 4-H Capital members over the past year and to celebrate a job well done.  The event also gave us a chance to recognize Travis Couty Extension Director Dolores Sandmann on her contributions to Extension as she retires today!  I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ms. Sandmann for her efforts and for helping me to get a start in this rewarding career.

Here are some of the highlights from the evening.

4-H'ers look forward to eating this goat-themed cake!

4-H members lead us in the 4-H pledge.

4-H members talk about their experience working with the goats.

Galindo 4-H member Samantha is recognized for her achievements at the Youth Show.

 Winning the "Best Smile" award!

Sheri Fleming and Lydia Domaruk present Dolores Sandmann with a plaque.

Thanks for everything, Dolores!

This was a much more pleasant day in Austin so Eagles 4-H had the opportunity to go outdoors and take more photos in the grounds outside the school.  They also took plenty of photos of the entries in the school's science project.  Here are some highlights:

It was another cold day in Austin so Eagles 4-H was unable to go outside and take photos.  Instead we practiced taking action shots in the school cafeteria.  Here are some of the best action/sports shots we got:

Today, Eagles 4-H learned about Composition, including the use of guiding lines, the rule of thirds, the use of triangles and circles, and other photography composition concepts.  Using these concepts, they were able to get some good photos outside of the school:

This day was way too cold to go outside, so Eagles 4-H did a fun activity indoors.  They learned how to take spooky photos and "trick shots".
Here are some of the spooky shots they came up with:
