September 26, 2015

Travis County 4-H was out volunteering again this year at the NAMI Walk Event held at the Long Center.  Our service at this event involves providing water and treats for the dogs participating in the NAMI Walk.  The participants really love having us out there and we were able to help a lot of thirsty dogs!  Here are some photos I took of the happy canines, along with some pictures of the walk itself:

September 23, 2015

Today was our first day back at Brooke Elementary for the 4-H After School Club!  Today we started the gardening project and the kids completed the Junior Master Gardener assignment "Picture Yourself A Plant" where they are instructed to draw themselves as a plant that has everything they need to be happy and healthy such as water, soil, and sunlight, and then to draw the same plant but lacking something it needs.  Here is what they came up with:

NAMI Walk - Saturday, September 26th

Each year, Travis County 4-H volunteers to provide the dog watering stations for the walkers/runners who like to bring their pets out to the NAMI Walk.  It is always greatly appreciated by the event organizers and dog owners.

Registration: 8:00 a.m.
Walk Begins: 9:30 a.m.
We are usually done around 10:30 - 11:00 am

Bethany 4-H will be hosting a 4-H One Day Event at Oak Springs Villa Apartments on Saturday, October 10th. They will be passing out plants to the residents there and introducing themselves.  The tree-planting event is scheduled for Saturday, October 24th.  For more information, please see the flyer below:

4-H One Day for 2015 is on Saturday, October 10th.  There will be many different 4-H Clubs hosting activities on that day.  Discovery 4-H is hosting a tree-planting event that is open to anyone in the county who wants to participate.  See the above flyer for more information.
