July 8, 2014

On this day, Travis County Agrilife Extension and Cooperative Extension staff worked together on the "It's Peachy" Food Project workshop in Fredericksburg.  4-H Agent Cory Talley organized the trip and Crystal Wiltz and myself helped out.  We visited a peach farm and bought some peaches which were used to make various items such as peach jelly and cookies.  I took several pictures of the event which I would like to share with you.  Thanks to the Gillespie County AgriLife Extension office for letting us use their facilities for food preparation.

The farmer explains how they grow and harvest the peaches.
He shows the kids some peaches.
4-H'ers collect peaches to take back to the factory.
Just another day at the peach factory!
4-H'ers watch their peaches come down the line.

"It's the pits" prepping all these peaches and cleaning up!
Now it's time to make the jelly!
 Helping to stir the jelly.
Now let's make some homemade peach cookies.
Yum!  All that hard work pays off deliciously.
